This scheme envisages to leverage the strengths of academic and research institution as Knowledge Partners (KPs) to support MSMEs, in innovation.

This scheme is implemented through the Entrepreneurship Development and Innovation Institute (EDII), an autonomous institution of the Government of Tamil Nadu. Modelled on international best practices, the IVP encourages the MSMEs and start-ups to utilize the services of a knowledge partner for furthering their innovative enterprises at the stage of pre-development and product or process development activities using two types of vouchers: ‘Voucher A’ and Voucher B’.

Voucher A: can be utilized for innovation potential analysis prior to the development of a new product or Production process, including but not limited to creation of Technology road map, market research, Product feasibility studies, Financing plan, Technology Audit, Material studies, Design studies, Research and Development (R&D) for creating a new product or process. The Grant under this voucher is 80% of the product cost to the maximum of Rs.2.00 lakhs.

Voucher B: can be utilized to promote an existing or early stage company to quickly assessing potential markets by developing an innovative commercial product and includes activities leading to not limited to: Service engineering Prototyping, Design services, Technology Transfer and IP procurement, Product testing, Quality Assurance, validation and certification, Project Management. The grant under this voucher is 50% of the product cost to the maximum of Rs 5.00 lakhs. This helps us how to convert their Innovative Ideas into money maker by initiate the Innovation Voucher Programme.

Energy Conservation – Need of the Hour

On 26th Feb. 2022 Entrepreneurship Development Cell in association with Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering organized a Webinar as a part of part of Celebration activity “Energy Conservation Day”. Dr. Syed Shuibul Qarnain Building Services Engineer-Mechanical Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA), Doha, Qatar delivered the webinar on the topic " Energy Conservation – Need of the Hour". Resource person explained the following for the energy conservation.

4 Ways To Save HVAC Energy Consumption In Commercial Buildings

  • Run your HVAC system strategically to avoid peak demand charges: It’s high noon and peak temperature, and so naturally your building’s AC is running; however, this strategy is also running up the demand charge on your electricity bill. Demand charge is the part of your bill that reflects the maximum amount of power you might need at any single point during the month—it ensures your building gets all the energy it needs at all times.
  • Regulate the amount of outside air intake to match actual occupancy levels: In many buildings, the amount of fresh air ventilation is maintained at a constant level, usually based on peak occupancy. However, most buildings aren’t at peak occupancy much of the time, which means you’re overspending on the electricity required for ventilation.
  • Cool your building with ice: There’s a growing interest in an alternative method of cooling called thermal energy storage (TES), which freezes water overnight that’s later used for cooling the building during the following day. Ice builds up on the submerged coils and by morning, the tank is frozen. During the day, a warm antifreeze solution is circulated through the same tubing and is cooled by the surrounding ice.

This event was conducted through google meet and the event was coordinated by Mr.A.Amala Manuela AP/EEE, EDC Coordinator for EEE department. Mr.J.Antony Robinson, AP/EEE introduced the guest speaker. Mrs.A.Amala Manuela AP/EEE delivered Vote of Thanks.
