On 21.03.2024 & 22.03.2024 a Workshop on "Prototype / Process Design and Development" was organized by the Entrepreneurship Development Cell and IIC in association with the Department of Information Technology. The session was handled by Mrs. M. Aruna Devi, Assistant Professor - Department of Information Technology, Francis Xavier Engineering College, Tirunelveli from 2.00 PM - 4.00 PM on both the days. 40 students and 2 faculties participated. This event was coordinated by Mr. F. Richard Singh Samuel AP/IT.

On the first day the resource person explained the fundamental principles of design thinking and its relevance in the modern landscape of product development and innovation. With the use of multimedia presentations, she illustrated the lifecycle of a product from ideation to the final prototype, emphasizing the iterative nature of designing and the importance of being user-centric. She explained the conceptual design and the tools and techniques used in creating effective prototypes. She also explained various prototyping materials and digital tools, providing a comprehensive overview of their applications and limitations.

The session began on rapid prototyping techniques, where she demonstrated the use of 3D printing and other rapid prototyping tools. Following this, the guest speaker led a critical discussion on process design and development, guiding attendees through the journey of scaling a prototype into a market-ready product. She shared insights into material selection, manufacturing processes, and quality control, highlighting the challenges one might face during this phase and strategies to overcome them. The workshop not only equipped students with valuable skills and knowledge but also inspired them to approach design challenges with a fresh perspective and renewed enthusiasm.
