On 15.11.2023 a session on " Startup Opportunities in the Emerging Information Technology Arena" was organized by the Entrepreneurship Development Cell and IIC in association with the Department of Computer Science and Business Systems. The session was handled by Mrs.M.Yasmin, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science and Business Systems, Francis Xavier Engineering College, Vannarpettai , from 01.30 PM - 04.30 PM. 40 students and 2 faculties participated. This event was coordinated by A.Arthy AP/CSBS.

The program started with the welcome address by Ms.A.Arthy, AP/CSBS Francis Xavier Engineering College. She introduced speaker Mrs.M.Yasmin, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science and Business Systems, Francis Xavier Engineering College, Vannarpettai . The guest speaker started the session by explaining the changes in the technology and the opportunities emerged due to the changes in the technologies. She said that the field of computer engineering offers numerous startup opportunities which was driven by the rapidly evolving technological landscape. She discussed that as computer engineers possess expertise in both hardware and software development they are well-positioned to explore ventures that address emerging challenges and capitalize on technological advancements. She said that one promising avenue is the development of innovative software solutions, such as mobile applications, AI-driven platforms, or cybersecurity tools. She said that another area of opportunity lies in hardware innovations where computer engineers can explore the development of cutting-edge devices, embedded systems, or IoT solutions. She explained the new technologies like block chain and quantum computing also opens doors for novel startups in the field. The speaker said successful startups require collaboration between individuals with diverse skills. Entrepreneurial skills help the engineers to work effectively in interdisciplinary teams. The startup ecosystem for computer engineers is vibrant, fostering creativity and entrepreneurship in the pursuit of addressing modern challenges and shaping the future of technology. She gave a lot of business ideas from the engineering domine and requested the participants to gather more information relating to that on their filed of interest. The engagement between the students and the expert was incredibly inspiring for all attendees. The session concluded with students providing their feedback.
