On 14.06.2022 a program was arranged by the Entrepreneurship Development Cell of IT department and IIC on the title “Start-up Avenues in Export of Sea Products” through offline mode. The session was handled by a successful student entrepreneur Mr. M. Ajith Kumar and he is running two business namely M.A Groups, and Mobile Hardware and Exports. The programme was presided by Dr.J.B.Shajilin Loret and coordinated by by Dr.L.Gandhimathi, EDC Coordinator of IT department.

The resource person (student Entrepreneur) explained the sea food products which are having potential for export. He also mentioned about the value addition which can be applied to the available sea food. In addition to this he highlighted the start-up opportunities for export of sea foods. During his talk he insisted on starting a business in the internal markets also.

He also said that India mainly exports frozen shrimps, fish, cuttlefish, squids, dried items, live and chilled items. Out of these, frozen shrimp is the largest exported marine product contributing to more than 50% of the total quantity and about 75% of the total export value (i.e., US$ 4.43 billion for 2020-21). Moreover the government is also encouraging the individuals to involve in the value addition of sea foods and startup activities.

He also inspired the students with his own experience as the exporter of sea food and the students raised number of questions about the value addition and export of sea foods. The session was an interactive one where the students were very participative and clarified their doubts. Totally 50 students were participated in the session.
