On 24.06.2022 a session on “Accelerators-Opportunities for Students and Faculties- Early Stage of Entrepreneurs” was organised by the Entrepreneurship Development Cell of ECE department and IIC through offline mode. The Session was handled by Dr. Subramania Bala Jeshurun, Associate Professor, Master of Business Administration, Francis Xavier Engineering College from 1.30 PM – 03.00 PM.

The seminar was presided by Mrs J Friska HOD/ECE and jointly coordinated by Dr. R Prem Ananth, IIC Convener, IIC Innovation Ambassador for "Design thinking & Innovations", Assistant professor, Francis Xavier Engineering College. The resource explained the role of Entrepreneurship and why the engineering students should opt for entrepreneurship. In addition to this he explained the meaning of business accelerator and the role of accelerator in the development of entrepreneurial ecosystem.

He also said that the accelerator will act as the mentor and provide necessary support to choose the startups in the competitive process and develop teams and train those teams and enable the supply access. The speaker said that the accelerators in addition to mentoring support they will also assist in investment opportunities, access to logical and technical resources and provide shared office space. The accelerators will also connect companies to networks of peers whose experience they can learn from.

The resource person gave lot of examples of accelerators operating in India such as TLabs Startup Accelerator, Cisco Launchpad Startup Accelerator, Indian Angel Network Startup Accelerator, DevX Startup Accelerators, ICreate Startup Incubator, and Prime Venture Partners (Angel Prime) Startup Accelerator. 46 students and 4 staff members participated in the program. Students raised few questions about the operations of the accelerators and their participation in the business operations.
