On 22.6.2023 a session on “Opportunity Screening in Entrepreneurship” was organized by the Entrepreneurship Development Cell and IIC in association with the Department of AI&DS. The session was handled by Er.Mr.Alban Santhosh, Founder Life Changes Academy,Trinelveli. 80 students from first year AI&DS and 1 faculty of AI&DS department participated in the program. The program was coordinated by Mrs P.Sooriabrabha, Assistant professor, Department of AI&DS from 9.00 AM – 4.00 PM.

The program started with the introduction of guest speaker Mrs. P. Sooriabrabha Assistant professor, Department of AI&DS. Opportunity screening is an essential step in the process of entrepreneurship. It involves evaluating and assessing potential business opportunities to determine their viability and potential for success. Effective opportunity screening helps entrepreneurs to identify the most promising ideas while filtering out those with limited potential or high levels of risk. He asked the students to analyse the criteria such as market size, growth potential, competitive landscape, feasibility, scalability, profitability, and personal expertise and passion. Resource person asked the students to check their entrepreneurial fit between their skills, expertise, and personal interests to evaluate whether they have the necessary knowledge, experience, and passion to successfully execute the idea and navigate potential challenges. Rank the ideas based on their alignment with criteria and the results of the screening process. Identify the top opportunities that offer the most potential for success and align with goals, capabilities, and resources. In the end of the session feedback link was shared to the students and got the feedback. The session went on well and the participants interacted with the guest speaker and gathered more information.
