On 18.01.2024 a session on "Inspiring the Engineering Students towards Innovation and Startup " was organized by the Entrepreneurship Development Cell and IIC in association with the Department of AI&DS. The session was handled by the resource person, Dr.Jainul fathima,AP/IT,FXEC, Francis Xavier Engineering College. Forty five students from first year AI&DS-A and one faculty of AI&DS department participated in the program. The program was coordinated by Mrs.P.Sooriabrabha, Assistant Professor,Department of AI&DS from 1.30PM –4.00PM.

The program started with the introduction of guest speaker Dr.Jainul fathima,Ap/IT, by Mrs.P.Sooriabrabha. The speaker explained the concept of startup and the need to focus on the importance of innovation among the students. The speaker shared her personal experiences in innovation and motivated the students to develop innovative products addressing the problems in the social domine. She also gave lot of examples for the prospective innovative products for which demand exists in the market. She also outlined a holistic strategy to encourage creativity, critical thinking, and the development of a startup mindset within the engineering education system. By fostering these qualities, one can aim to empower the next generation of engineers to become not just problem solvers but innovators and successful entrepreneurs. This century demands a shift in the traditional approach to engineering education. Beyond mastering technical skills, students must be equipped with the ability to identify problems, envision solutions, and navigate the complexities of the entrepreneurial landscape.

The speaker emphasised the focus on creating an environment that encourages innovation and startup culture among engineering students. Inspiring engineering students towards innovation and startups requires a multifaceted approach that integrates curriculum changes, extracurricular activities, industry collaborations, and support systems. By implementing this comprehensive strategy, educational institutions can play a pivotal role in shaping the future generation of engineers, instilling in them the mindset and skills necessary for success in the ever-evolving technological landscape.
