On 27.09.2023 a “Innovation in Science – A Journey Towards Technology” was organized by the Entrepreneurship Development Cell and IIC in association with the IPR Club. The session was handled by Dr. V. Balasubramanian, Assistant Professor, Francis Xavier Engineering College. 43 students and 1 faculty participated. This event was coordinated by Dr. Dr. P. S. Suja Ponmini, Associate Professor, Francis Xavier Engineering College. This event was conducted with the guidance of Mrs J Friska, ASP/ECE, FXEC.

The guest speaker started his speech and said that innovation can be referred to something new or a change made to an existing product, idea, or field. He also explained the emerging technology which can be used for the development of innovative products. He also highlighted the technologies like artificial intelligence, ARVR, Block Chain, biotechnology, renewable energy, and nanotechnology. He said the effective use of these technologies will pave the way to develop the innovative products which can resolve the existing problems. The speaker asked the students to give strong focus on sustainability. Innovation in science and technology can address pressing global issues and the developmental needs. The speaker emphasized the importance of cross-disciplinary collaboration in scientific innovation and shared examples of successful projects that emerged from collaborative efforts across various scientific fields. The speaker also highlighted the role of protecting the innovations through intellectual property rights (IPR). He also gave lot of examples for the issues related to the innovative products. He concluded the speech by saying that digitalization and digital transformation is reshaping the scientific landscape and revolutionizing research in the field of science and technologies.

The program was very much interactive wherein the participants raised few questions about the innovative products developed with the help of new technologies. The participants gained knowledge and new insights about the new and emerging technologies and the process of protecting the rights of the innovative products.
