On 28.12.2023 a session on "Expert Talk on Innovation and Technology Readiness Level " was organized by the Entrepreneurship Development Cell and IIC in association with the Department of AI&DS. The session was handled by Mr. M. Praveen, Student Product Innovator and Startup Founder, Francis Xavier Engineering College. Forty-five students from first year AI&DS and 1 faculty member participated in the program. The program was coordinated by Mrs.P.Sooriabrabha, Assistant Professor,Department of AI&DS from 9.30AM –12.30PM.

The program started with the introduction of guest speaker. The resource person gave an introduction about innovation and the need for the student’s involvement in the process of innovation. Guest speaker being the product innovator he shared his experiences in the product development stage. Moreover, he gave lot of examples for the new product development using the latest technologies. He explained the opportunities in AI, Machine language and Block Chain technologies. Later he explained the concept of Technology Readiness Level. He said the Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) are a type of measurement system used to assess the maturity level of a particular technology. Each technology project is evaluated against the parameters for each technology level and is then assigned a TRL rating based on the projects progress. He explained the 9 stages of technology readiness level. The discussion aimed to explore the significance of TRL in the innovation process, its impact on technological advancements, and strategies for enhancing technology readiness across various industries. He highlighted the critical importance of TRL in determining the feasibility and potential success of technology adoption. He also discussed the diverse industry applications, showcasing how TRL assessments are utilized in aerospace, healthcare, energy, and information technology. Students gained insights into how different sectors leverage TRL to enhance technology adoption and implementation. At the end of the session feedback link shared to the students and collected the feedback.
