Funding Opportunities for Early Stage Entrepreneurs

On 31.01.2024 a session on "Funding Opportunities for Early Stage Entrepreneurs " was organized by the Entrepreneurship Development Cell and IIC in association with the Department of AI&DS. The session was handled by the resource person, Ms.Agnes Joshy, AP/IT, Francis Xavier Engineering College. Fourty students from second year AI&DS and 1 faculty of AI&DS department participated in the program. The program was coordinated by Mrs.P.Sooriabrabha, Assistant Professor, Department of AI&DS from 1.30PM –4.00PM.

The program started with the introduction of guest speaker, Ms.AgnesJoshy AP/IT, by Mrs.P.Sooriabrabha. Resource person explained various sources of funding, such as grants, angel investment, venture capital fund, and government schemes. The resource person highlighted the various government schemes such as NEEDS, PMEGP, UYEGP, PM Mudra and Startup India. She gave explanation for all the government schemes and asked the students to go through the government websites to collect more information about the various schemes and make use of the same for the purpose of starting a business establishment. She also highlighted the subsidies available under each schemes. In addition to this the speaker explained the support provided by the Government of Tamil Nadu for the development of entrepreneurship in the state. In this category she explained the role DICs, EDII TN, MSME which are providing support to the entrepreneurs to start the concern. Entrepreneurs are encouraged to explore multiple avenues based on their specific needs and industry focus. At the end of the session feedback link was shared to the students and collected the feedback.
