On 5.03.2024 Exposure Visit to “St.John Freight Systems Ltd and SDR Polymers, Tuticorin” was organized by the Entrepreneurship Development Cell of Management Studies department and IIC of Francis Xavier Engineering College. The visit was arranged for I year MBA students from 9.30 am to 4.30 pm on 5.3.2024 and was accommodated by Dr.V.M.Sangeetha, EDC coordinator of Management Studies, Francis Xavier Engineering College with 2 faculties of management studies department.

In the morning session students went to St.John Frieght system Ltd, Thoothukdi. The objectives of this visit was to give exposure in container logistics. St. John owns General Warehouse space of over 200,000 Sq Ft in Tuticorin for storing International and Domestic Cargo and through various partners on specific customer requirements. Students were first taken to loading and unloading sections. Waste papers are imported from another country, through St. John freight system limited and then transported to Coimbatore and Tirupur paper Mills. Students got opportunity to see specialized equipment’s and tools deployed for loading and unloading purposes. Documentation, clearance and shipping processes were explained to the students.

In the afternoon students visited SDR Polymers Private Limited, Thoothukudi a Flagship company of the SDR Group of Companies, a leading Business House located in Tuticorin. Students visited the Jambo bag manufacturing process, the different types of Jambo bags according to the customer preferences produced by SDR Polymers. Students visited the manufacturing plant, Quality checking section. They import the raw material from Reliance. The company export the bags all over the world especially to UK and USA. Students visited extrusion process, where a mix of virgin ingredients are melted and shaped into tapes of specific measurements. Then students were grouped into teams and the President of the company clearly explained the entrepreneurial opportunities of this industry and he motivated students to enter into this business.
