The Entrepreneurship Development Cell and Institution’s Innovation Council, in association with the Department of Civil Engineering, organized an expert talk on “Current Opportunities in Civil Engineering to Become Entrepreneurs” on 24th January 2025. The resource person for the session was Mrs. R. Swetha, Assistant Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, Francis Xavier Engineering College, Tirunelveli. 42 students and I faculty member participated in the program. The program was coordinated by Mrs. P. Raja Priya, Assistant Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, FXEC.
Engineering. The resource person elaborated on innovative business ideas, emerging trends in construction, and sustainable building practices. She discussed the importance of identifying market gaps and leveraging technical knowledge to develop unique solutions. Students were encouraged to explore fields like smart infrastructure, green construction, and digital tools for project management. The resource person also emphasized the significance of leadership, effective communication, and financial planning in entrepreneurial success. She provided insights into utilizing government schemes and industry collaborations for startup growth.
Also, she addressed the challenges faced by aspiring entrepreneurs in civil engineering, such as funding, competition, and market entry barriers. She suggested practical solutions, including forming strategic partnerships, adopting innovative technologies, and leveraging digital platforms to expand business opportunities. By sharing real-life examples of successful ventures in civil engineering, she inspired students to think creatively and develop problem-solving skills to overcome obstacles. The session equipped participants with valuable knowledge and motivated them to pursue entrepreneurial endeavors with confidence and determination.
The program concluded with a Q&A session where students actively engaged, seeking advice on building entrepreneurial ventures in civil engineering. The session was highly informative, inspiring students to consider entrepreneurship as a promising career path.
