On 20.02.2023 a workshop on “Entrepreneurship Skills, Attitude and Behavior Development” was organized by the Entrepreneurship Development Cell and IIC in association with the Department of CSBS The session was handled by Dr. Lourdes Poobala Rayen, Director EDC and IIC President, Francis Xavier Engineering College. 42 students from first year CSBS and 2 faculties of CSBS department participated in the program. The program was coordinated by Dr. T. Manimozhi, EDC coordinator of CSBS, Professor/Mathematics, Francis Xavier Engineering College from 9.30A.M. - 3.30 PM.

The guest speaker started the session by explaining the positive aspects of becoming an entrepreneur and the negatives aspects of working under a boss. The speaker highlighted the entrepreneurial skills such as communication and active listening skills, risk taking skills, networking skills, critical thinking skills, problem solving skills, creative thinking skills, customer service skills, leadership skills and time management skills etc. He also gave interesting exercises to the participants for each of the skills. He requested the participants to identify the skills possessed by each of them. In addition to this he said entrepreneurial attitude is very important to be a successful entrepreneur. He said good entrepreneurs knows the value of being open, think different and flexible.

The guest speaker said that the identification of the right choice of business venture is very important and it will be a starting point for setting up a business venture. He also mentioned some benefits of being an entrepreneur in the society such as flexible schedule autonomy creating a career that aligns with ones values constant growth and development, leadership experience etc., He also highlighted that how small business ventures have become a successful big business. The resource person gave lot of examples such as banana powder, cookies, Moringa powder, Neem powder, turmeric powder, production of value added tomato products and aloe vera gel etc. He also said that the banana fibers are used to make sanitary napkins, clothes etc. In the afternoon session the speaker highlighted few more examples to identify the business opportunities and the government support to start the business venture. The session came to an end with the feedback session of students and staffs.
