On 17.07.2023 a Workshop on "Entrepreneurship and Pitching for Investment" was organized by the Entrepreneurship Development Cell and IIC in association with the department of Electronics and Communication Engineering. The workshop was handled by Dakshin, Founder, Chairman, CEO & Lead Investor, Dakshin Group of Companies from 09.30 AM - 04.30 PM. 43 students and 2 faculties participated. This event was coordinated by Dr. R Prem Ananth, IIC Convener, IIC Innovation Ambassador for "Design thinking & Innovations", Assistant professor, Francis Xavier Engineering College. This event was conducted with the guidance of Dr. Lourdes Poobala Rayen, IIC President.

The program started with the welcome address by Dr. Lourdes Poobala Rayen, IIC President, Francis Xavier Engineering College. He started his welcome address by explaining the need for pitching to get funds from an angel investor or a venture capitalist. He said that being an entrepreneur one can be independent, can have flexible working hours, scope to explore and innovate new aspects in his venture along with financial growth. He introduced Dakshin, Founder, Chairman, CEO & Lead Investor, Dakshin Group of Companies to the students. He said our expert is a young entrepreneur and a venture capitalist, who is willing to invest 2.5 crores to convert an innovative ideas in to a startups.

The guest speaker started the session by introducing his entrepreneurial experience and he also said that he is ready to invest on innovative ideas that needs fund. He said Dakshin group of companies is the combination of 6 companies run by the speaker and they are The Legacy org | Starup plat form, Payir Corp limited, Payir Corp Tech limited, Payir Corp Solutions Limited, the Ark, Luxuriya Fashion & Life Style Private limited and Utopia. He said being an entrepreneur he had the opportunity to explore different business and able to improve the career growth by establishing six companies. He also narrated various examples of successful entrepreneur and inspired the students. He explained the concept of pitching and the information needs to be given during the presentation to convince the potential investors. He said while pitching the innovative ideas to the investor or to the customer a clear idea should be presented including the goals to be achieved.

He also explained Do’s and Don’t’s of pitching and he divided the 43 students to 10 batches and made them to present their business. All the students were given with a business model canvas sheet and they were give 15 mins time to prepare their presentation on customer segments, value propositions, channels, customer relationships, revenue streams, key resources, key activities, key partners and cost. The students with enormous interest prepared their presentation and they started their presentation as a team one by one. The resource person being a business coach and mentor, corrected their pitching and encouraged the students. He requested the presenters to present the revenue streams with more care to attract funds from the investor.
