On 21/06/2023, a guest lecture titled "Embrace Your Future: Empowering Students for Placement Success" was delivered to the IV year students of IT department. The lecture was delivered by Mr. Sivasubramanian, an esteemed Data Engineering Leader at Cisco, with an extensive experience of 11 years in the field. Mr. Sivasubramanian is also the best outgoing student of IT department in the year 2011 and a part-time professor at Great Lakes Institute of Management for Data Science. The objective of the lecture was to motivate and inspire the students to excel in their placement preparations and equip them with valuable insights and guidance for their future career endeavors.

Dr.T.C Subbulakshmi commenced the lecture by introducing the guest speaker, providing an overview of professional journey, and emphasizing the importance of effective placement preparation.

The guest speaker highlighted the competitive nature of the job market and the significance of securing a suitable placement opportunity. Mr. Sivasubramanian encouraged students to aim for organizations that resonate with their values and provide opportunities for growth and learning.

During the lecture, Mr. Sivasubramanian outlined several essential factors that contribute to placement success. He insisted on self-awareness and defining career goals. Students were encouraged to reflect on their strengths, weaknesses, and career aspirations, enabling them to make informed decisions during the placement process. Mr. Sivasubramanian emphasized the importance of strong foundations in core subjects for placement success. He insisted that students should prioritize their preparation in subjects such as Data Structures, Database Management Systems (DBMS), and Operating Systems (OS). These subjects were identified as crucial knowledge areas for technical interviews and formed the backbone of many job roles in the industry. The speaker stressed the significance of understanding the fundamental concepts, practicing coding exercises, and staying updated with the latest advancements in these subjects.

Following the lecture, Mr. Sivasubramanian graciously engaged in a question and answer session, addressing students' queries related to placement challenges, career development, and industry trends. The session was coordinated by Dr.A.Jainul Fathima AP/IT. The interactive session provided students with further guidance and clarification on various aspects of placement preparation.
