On October 20, 2023, a Guest Lecture on "Discussion on Startup Opportunities" was organized by the Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC) and the Institution’s innovation Council (IIC) in association with the Department of Master of Computer Application (MCA). The resource person of the session was Ms. M. Dharshini, a fourth-year student pursuing Computer Science at Francis Xavier Engineering College, Tirunelveli and she is also the Student startup founder. The event took place from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM and was attended by 53 students and 2 faculty members. Mrs. M.K. Subbulakshmi, an Assistant Professor in the Master of Computer Applications department, coordinated the event.

The event began with an introduction of the student startup founder Ms. M. Dharshini, by Mrs. M.K. Subbulakshmi. The guest speaker, started her speech by addressing the fundamental aspects of entrepreneurship and why students must involve in entrepreneurship. She gave few examples of student entrepreneurs who are earning while learning. She shared her startup experience and the difficulties faced during the startup journey. She explained the product she developed and the grant received from Entrepreneurship Development and Innovation Institute of Tamil Nadu (EDII) under Innovation Voucher Program (IVP) for developing the innovative products. While explaining the startup journey, she shared lot of innovative ideas which can be taken up for developing the new products.

The guest speaker highlighted the process of identifying the innovative product ideas and how to screen the ideas to choose the best idea. She asked the students to identifying unmet needs, market gaps, and emerging trends as sources of identifying the innovative ideas and developing the right product to satisfy the unmet needs of the people. She also highlighted the problems associated with the development of the product and commercialise the same. In fact the session was an eye opening one all the participants involved in the discussion and benefitted out of it.
