On 27.09.2023 a session on "Identifying Innovative Startup Avenues in the field of Information Technology for product development” was organized by the Entrepreneurship Development Cell and IIC in association with the Department of Information Technology. The session was handled by Ms. S.Agnes Joshy Assistant Professor, IT, Francis Xavier Engineering College, Tirunelveli from 2- 4PM . 41 students and 2 faculties participated. This event was coordinated by Ms. R Shirly Myrtle AP/IT.

The program started with the welcome address by Ms. R Shirly Myrtle AP/IT , Francis Xavier Engineering College. The guest speaker Ms. S Agnes Joshy started the speech by highlighting the Information Technology (IT) sector and the various avenues for developing innovative startups. While addressing the avenues she gave lot of live examples for the business opportunities and tech startups using the present technologies.

She explained the several emerging trends which are dominating the IT landscape. Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) are at the forefront, with startups finding applications in various industries, such as healthcare, finance, and e-commerce. The healthcare IT sector demands innovation in electronic health records (EHR), telemedicine, and patient data security. Fintech startups can serve the financial industry by introducing digital payment solutions, robo-advisors, and blockchain-based financial services. She also gave information about E-commerce and the opportunities for startups to develop AI-driven engines, supply chain optimization tools, and personalized shopping experiences. The education technology (EdTech) sector is witnessing significant growth, with potential for startups to create e-learning platforms, virtual classrooms, and educational content. The concept of smart cities is gaining momentum, opening doors for startups to contribute to IoT-based infrastructure management, traffic optimization, and environmental monitoring. The session was informative and students gained knowledge about the innovative areas in IT sector.
