On 10.01.23 the Entrepreneurship Development cell in association with AURCT-IEDP HUB, Anna University Regional Campus, Tirunelveli organized an Awareness Program on EDII Tamilnadu Student Innovators (TNSI). Mr.M.Siva Baarathi, Field Coordinator, AURCT-IEDP HUB,Anna University Regional Campus-Tirunelveli and Mr. Padmanabha Kamal, CEO, Shelly Pvt Ltd, Thoothukudi were the guest speakers. 122 students benefitted along with 4 faculties. In this program 7 students from St.Mother Theresa Engineering College, Thoothukudi and 12 Students from SCAD College of Engineering Technology, Cheranmahadevi participated. This event was coordinated by Dr R Prem Ananth AP/ECE. This event was conducted with the guidance of Dr.Lourdes Poobala Rayen, EDC Director.

The program started with the welcome address by Dr Lourdes Poobala Rayen, EDC Director. He also gave an introduction about TNSI and the government initiatives for the startup activities. Later he introduced both the guest speakers to the students. Mr.M.Siva Baarathi, started the session by explaining the importance of TNSI competition. He said every year EDII-TN is organizing TNSI and offers Rs.1 lakhs for 25 teams. He motivated the students that last three years each time one team from Francis Xavier Engineering college is winning Rs 1 lakhs. Then he started explaining the stages of TNSI competition such as Stage 1: Entrepreneurship Awareness Programmes, Stage 2: Ideation (IDEA) Camp, Stage 3: Boot Camp, Stage 4. State Level Pitch and Stage 5. Fellowship/Prototyping. He explained the process of registering the ideas for the TNSI competition.

The second session was handled by Mr. Padmanabha Kamal, CEO, Shelly Pvt Ltd Thoothukudi, he shared his personal experience about the startup companies run by him. He said innovation is the key for startup and he shared his success story of his car wash company. He said identifying the social problems and giving solution will pave the way to develop the startup. He addressed the problems in his latest startup venture such as minimum use of water for car wash, lower cost for car wash and the service at the doorstep. Further the interaction between the students and guest speakers made the session very useful and students were motivated.
