On 13.06.2023 an expert talk on “Startup: An Emerging Opportunity for the Young Engineers” was organized by the Entrepreneurship Development Cell and IIC in association with the Department of CSBS. The session was handled by Mr. R. Rahesh, Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Francis Xavier Engineering College. 42 students from first year CSBS and 2 faculties of CSBS department participated in the program. The program was coordinated by Dr. T. Manimozhi, EDC coordinator of CSBS, Professor/Mathematics, Francis Xavier Engineering College from 2.00P.M. – 4.00 PM.

The guest speaker started the session by explaining the changes in the technology and the opportunities emerged due to the changes in the technologies. In recent years, the entrepreneurial landscape has witnessed a significant rise in start-ups, driven by technological advancements, changing consumer demands, and a favorable business ecosystem. He added that this trend has presented young engineers with a unique opportunity to venture into the world of entrepreneurship and create their own start-ups.

Start-ups provide young engineers with the freedom to explore their innovative ideas and develop unique solutions to real-world problems. Unlike traditional engineering roles, start-ups offer a fertile ground for creativity, enabling engineers to bring their visions to life. Start-ups allow young engineers to take on leadership roles and make critical decisions that shape the trajectory of their ventures. By assuming ownership of their projects, engineers have the chance to build a lasting legacy and leave a significant impact on their industry. The speaker advised the young engineers to carefully analyze market needs and identify a problem or gap that their start-up can address effectively. Conducting market research, gathering customer feedback, and leveraging their technical expertise can help in defining a compelling value proposition. Young engineers should seek co-founders and team members who complement their skills, share the same vision, and possess a passion for innovation and entrepreneurship.
