On 31st January 2024, Entrepreneurship Development Cell and IIC in association with Department of Civil Engineering organized an Expert talk on Engineerpreneurship Unleashed: A journey from ideas to impact. The resource person for the program was Mr. M. Praveen, IV Year CSE, Francis Xavier Engineering College, Founder and CEO-Iris Glass, Tirunelveli. 44 civil engineering students and 1 faculty attended the program. The session was coordinated by Mrs. P. Raja Priya, Assistant Professor, Department of civil engineering, FXEC.

The resource person stated that how to transform ideas into viable ventures and navigating the complexities of business ownership. He also mentioned that in a rapidly evolving technological world, the importance of nurturing young talent cannot be underestimated. Encouraging young engineers to embrace their creativity and embark on entrepreneurial ventures not only strengthens the industry but also fosters innovation and drives economic growth. The resource person also summarizes about the important of education and its pivotal role in empowering the next generation of engineers to take the entrepreneurial leap. By incorporating entrepreneurship into technical education curriculums, we can equip students with the mindset and skill set required to carve their own path in the industry. The knowledge and the experiences gained by him in the development of Iris glass were also shared by the resource person. Some key points worth exploring include:

    • Hands-on learning: Providing practical experiences and real-world projects gives young engineers the confidence to pursue their entrepreneurial dreams.
    • Business fundamentals: Teaching the basics of finance, marketing, and business strategy helps young entrepreneurs understand the commercial aspects of their innovations.

The students asked many questions and it was answered by the resource person.
