MATLAB is a high-performance language for technical computing. It integrates computation, visualization, and programming in an easy-to-use environment where problems and solutions are expressed in familiar mathematical notation. With the aim to benchmark competencies that matter the most for being employable in a competitive landscape,Industrial Automation Applied Laboratory conducted Skill Training on the basic control system practice in MATLAB from 27.02.23 to 02.03.23 to the II year students. The main objective of this skill training is to enable the students to build an open loop system with step input, to describe the proportional-plus-integral-plus-derivative control mode, to use MATLAB to build a closed loop system with PID controller. Through this training, students were able to use Matlab for interactive computations. Students got familiar with memory and file management in Matlab and also learnt to generate plots and export this for use in reports and presentations. The skill training ended with a feedback session by the students and expressed their interest and willingness in attending the next skill training of this series.
