"Creating skilled Engineering Professionals" who can meet the demands of futuristic Industry is the watchword of FXEC. Francis Xavier Engineering College, in a bid to make the students industry-ready, follows a proactive strategy to make its students upskill themselves with the emerging trends of technology. The college has has established 20 state-of-the-art Industrial Applied Labs. The students of the applied labs are facilitated by the professors and industry experts to come up with new ideas, design and fabricate projects. Those who work on developing products draw inputs from cross-functional expertise and collaborate to create innovative products.

Recently, the students of Innovation and Product Development Industrial Appli-ed Laboratory are guided by Prof. S. Sheik Sulaiman, AP, Department of Mechanical Engineering, designed and fabricated an Electric vehicle.

Features of the Electric Vehicle

This Eco-friendly Electric Vehicle is designed with 6 seating arrangements with a carrying capacity of 750 kgs. It can run around 70 kilometres with a speed of 40 km/hour in a single charge. The power source of this car is a customised lithium ferro phosphate - 60 volts 30 amps battery. This vehicle has a simple design and is easy to maintain.

The accessories and fittings are made to fit into an affordable budget. The teams extended their gratitude to Dr. Cletus Babu, Chairman, SCAD Group, Mr. Arun Babu, MD, SCAD Group. Dr. K. Jeya Kumar, General Manager (Development), Mr. Krishnakumar, General Manager (Administration) and Dr. V. Velmurugan, Principal for their guidance and support towards fabricating the e-vehicle.
