Creating Awareness on Cyber threats and tips to avoid a data breach.

Computers today form an integral part of our lives. With a motive to increase awareness of computers amongst students, a Guest Lecture on “Cyber Club Awareness” was organized by the Cyber Forensics Applied Lab in association with the Department of Computer Science and Engineering on 12.01.2023. Mr. S. Muthukumar, Sub Inspector of Police, Cyber Crime Police Station, Tirunelveli was the resource person. The session was coordinated by Dr. R. Ravi, Professor/CSE, FXEC & Dr. Y. Harold Robinson, Associate Prof./CSE, FXEC. Dr. G. Aravind Swaminathan, Professor and Head/CSE, has delivered the welcome address & emphasized the importance of Cyber Club Awareness. Dr. R. Ravi introduced the chief guest and delivered the introductory speech regarding Cyber club Awareness. The guest speaker suggested that the cyber club aims to increase students' awareness of computers and their uses in our daily life, with a view to prepare citizens of tomorrow who are better suited to deal with information technology. He explained that Cyber Security Club is a student-run club with the goal of providing outside-of-class activities relevant to the industry and listed the benefits of data security include the prevention of data breaches, the protection of sensitive information, and the deterrence of cyber-attacks. The resource person further added that Data security also helps to ensure the continuity of business operations in the event of a security breach or attack. A total of 80 students and 3 staff members participated in the program.
