FACULTY DEVELOPMENT TRAINING PROGRAMME

    A faculty Development Training Programme was organized at FXEC for 3 days (18th TO 20th June, 2018) for which prominent and legendary resource persons were invited. It proved to be a very constructive and valuable programme for the participants.

                                            
DAY 1 – 18.06.18
Session 1 :
Resource Person : Dr. K.Jeyakumar, General Manager(D), SCAD
Topic: Good to Great in academic excellence

Dr.K.Jeyakumar gave an appropriate initiation towards why we as teachers need to constantly strive towards excellence in our academic career. He gave an insight into various aspects of our career and what changes we can incorporate in order to shine, using different illustrations, analysis and video clippings. He gave us thorough vision of main criteria like accreditation, ranking , admissions, placements, journal publications, patent filing, implementing student centric learning, how to deal with z- generation students etc.
Session 2:
Resource Person: Mr.Ignatius Xavier, General Manager (F), SCAD
Topic: Roles and responsibilities of a teacher
Mr.Ignatius Xavier delivered a forthright portrayal of how teachers need to prioritise their activities and how to implement them, in order to obtain desired end results. His speech was a source of motivation and served as a reminder of all our fundamental duties.
Session 3:
Resource Person: Dr.K.Ganesan, Principal, FXEC
Topic: Joyful Teaching

After an initiation about our role as a teacher, sparked by previous resource persons of the day, Dr.K.Ganesan, Principal, FXEC gave an insight into how such roles and responsibilities can be carried with joy. His representation introduced us to a new perspective of our duties and how we can enjoy doing them. He conveyed a conventional view of how the learning process can be made enjoyable for the students as well.
DAY 1 – 19.06.18
Session 1 :
Resource Person : Dr. S.S.Srinithi, Consultant Psychologist, Sanmira Centre for psychological conventions
Topic: Emotional Intelligence, Stress management

Dr.S.S.Srinithi , a consultant psychologist, delivered a set of simple yet thought provoking question & answers, and also conducted amusing activities that served to be a time for self-introspection and self-analyzation for the participants. The refreshing session enlightened the participants on how the mentality of current generation will be and how the teachers should perceive it and handle them. 
Session 2:
Resource Person : Mr.T.Karunakaran, Rtd. Professor, St.John’s College,Tvl.
Topic: Challenges of a professor, Mentoring
Mr.T.Karunkaran’s session involved the participants in activities that kindled them to discuss and analyse various types of students, especially the mischief makers, and how to handle various types of challenging scenarios in the classroom posed by them.
Day 3:
Session 1:
Resource Person: Mrs.J.Christina Jeya Nithila, Professor/XIBA, Tvl.
Topic: Classroom management, Best practices

Mrs.Nithila gave the participants a thorough insight into the origin of the Indian education system and how it still exists to date. She explained the importance of becoming technologically savvy to keep up with the current generation and also stressed on encouraging the students to be updated too. She also cited on the long term benefits of introducing art and creativity into engineering content delivery. She also gave a detailed depiction on how a teacher should be and should not be, in order to effectively handle the current students.
Session 2:
Resource Person: Dr.Chandra Sekaran, Dean(Research), SCAD
Topic: Research for beginners
Dr.Chandra Sekaran’s session gave a thorough explanation on how to prepare proper research proposals in such a way that it gets selected for research grants. It was very detailed and highly motivational.
Session 3:
Resource Person: Mrs.Regina Paul, Placement Trainer, FXEC
Topic: Communication Skills
Mrs.Regina Paul’s session was very refreshing and threw new light on the way of communication in English language. She got all participants involved in the session by making English sound like a very interesting and easy language to use.
