Francis Xavier Engineering College is a minority, self-financing Engineering College. The admissions of students in the various courses are being done according to the norms specified from time to time by the government of Tamil Nadu. At present, 50% of the seats are filled through single window system prescribed by the government of Tamil Nadu and the remaining 50% of the seats are filled through management quota on the basis of the marks scored by the students in their higher secondary examination. A pass in Maths. Physics & Chemistry and vocational stream with maths at 10 +2 level of tamil nadu board of education or equivalent with a minimum marks prescribed for each community: OC 55%, BC 50%, MBC 45%, ans SC/ST a mere pass.

The other state candidates should have scored 55% marks in maths, Physics and chemistry. B.Sc., with maths as one of the subjects/ Diploma in Engineering with 60% above are eligible for lateral entry. FX offers special scholarships to meritorious students in H.S.C., National and State level sports persons and deserving students from Polytechnic and Metric school of the SCAD Group besides the Government scholarships to SC/ST, BC and MBC students.
